Saugus Oil and Gas Heat Replaced With Heat Pumps

Trade a worn-out burner for a heat pump, and let us deal with the old equipment properly.

Out With the Old Burner, Done Right

Plenty of houses in town still lean on an oil burner that has been downstairs longer than the people living above it. Others have a propane furnace or an aging gas unit that needs more attention each winter. A heat pump replaces it with one system for warmth and cooling, and no more oil deliveries to plan around. The changeover has to be handled correctly, though. When the heat pump takes on a zone, the program expects the old equipment serving that zone to come out or be shut off. If you would like to hang on to it as a backup, it must be wired into integrated controls that only bring it on during deep cold. We plan for that from day one, so your rebate stays on track and nobody goes chilly during the switch. Sizing comes from your home's real heat loss, not the old burner's rating, which was often far too big to begin with. Floors get covered, basement work stays orderly and anything we pull out leaves with us. Then a walkthrough, so you know how the new system runs and what became of the old one.

Inside a Typical Swap

Each changeover differs a little. These are the regulars.

  • Old equipment reviewed

Fuel, age, zones and condition checked, so we know exactly what the heat pump will take over.

  • Sized to today's house

New equipment matched to the home as it is now, after any insulation, not to the old burner.

  • Taken out or shut off

The old boiler or furnace removed or permanently disconnected when it is no longer needed.

  • Backup wiring

Integrated controls if you keep the old system, so it fires only in the coldest stretches.

  • Rebate and loan forms

Mass Save paperwork and HEAT Loan steps handled right alongside the install.

  • Final walkthrough

How the new system runs, how any backup behaves and what to keep an eye on.

The Switch, Step by Step

  1. Chat, then a visit

A call about your current heat, then a stop at the house to see the cellar and the old equipment.

  2. Settle on backup

Full removal or backup on integrated controls, decided with you and written into the plan.

  3. Install and handoff

Heat pump in, old system dealt with, everything tested and explained, forms filed.
